All the Mods 11 - Why We're Waiting

ATM11 is still on the roadmap for BacoNetworks, but we're holding off until the pack has the content, quests and end game to justify a server. Here's our thinking, and what happens next.

All the Mods 11 update

If you've been keeping an eye on our server list, you'll have spotted All the Mods 11 sitting there marked as coming soon. It's been that way for a little while now, and we've had a steady trickle of questions in Discord asking when it's going live. So rather than leave everyone guessing, we wanted to put something proper together and explain exactly where we're at.
The short version
ATM11 is still very much planned. We're just not hosting it yet, and realistically that's a few months away rather than a few weeks.

Why we are holding off

All the Mods 11 is still in beta. That's not a criticism of the pack or the team behind it - beta is exactly where a pack this size should be at this stage in its life, and the ATM team have never been ones to rush something out before it's ready. But beta means the pack is still moving. Mods get added, removed and swapped out. Recipes change. Progression gets rebalanced. Quest lines that exist today might look completely different a month from now.
That's fine if you're playing solo and can start a fresh world whenever you like. It's a much bigger problem on a server.
When we launch a server, people build on it. They set up bases, they sink hundreds of hours into automation, they create projects together, all of which can take weeks. All of that assumes the ground underneath them isn't going to shift. If we launched ATM11 now, we'd be looking at either frequent pack updates that risk breaking our existing world, or freezing the pack at an early version and leaving everyone stuck on something that's missing half its content.
Neither of those is a good experience, and neither is the standard we want to hold ourselves to.

What we're waiting for specifically

We're not just waiting for a version number to tick over. There are three things in particular we want to see land before we commit:

More content

The mod list is still filling out. A big part of what makes an All the Mods pack worth playing is the sheer breadth of it - the sense that you could go in ten different directions and each one has depth. ATM11 isn't quite there yet.

A complete quest book

Quests are how most people find their footing in a pack this large, and they matter even more on a server where you've got players of wildly different experience levels sharing a world. A half-finished quest book means new players bounce off it, and that's the last thing we want for a fresh launch.

A proper end game

This is the big one. A server needs something to build toward. Right now the late-game progression in ATM11 isn't fleshed out enough to carry a long-running world, and a server that runs out of things to do after a month isn't a server worth hosting.
Once those three are in a solid state, we'll be ready to go.

So what happens now?

Nothing changes on your end. Our existing servers carry on exactly as they are - All the Mods 10, ATM10 Sky, All the Mons, StoneBlock 2 and SkyFactory 4 are all running as normal and aren't going anywhere. If you're after something to sink your teeth into in the meantime, ATM10 is the closest sibling to what ATM11 will eventually be, and it's in a great place right now.
We'll keep watching ATM11's development, and when the pack reaches a point where we're happy it'll hold up as a long-term server, we'll get it set up and tested properly before it goes anywhere near a public launch.

We'll tell you when it's live

You won't have to go hunting for the news. When ATM11 is ready, we'll post a full announcement here and put it out in Discord at the same time, with all the usual details - IP, world settings, any server-specific rules, and everything else you'd expect from one of our launches.
If you want to be first to know, the Discord is the place to be - announcements go out there the moment the server opens.

Sorry for the wait

We know some of you have been looking forward to this one since the pack was first announced, and we're aware that "it's coming, just not yet" isn't the most exciting thing to read. We'd genuinely rather launch it late and have it be worth playing than launch it early and have it fall over.
That's always been the approach here - we'd sooner run a handful of servers properly than a long list of them badly. ATM11 will get the same treatment as everything else on the network when its time comes.
Thanks for sticking with us. See you on the servers in the meantime.
